Velocity Modelling and Depth Imaging
SIP's unique depth migration workflow has as its starting point the highly accurate and geological AutoImager interval velocity field. This is, in most cases, a 90-95% accurate model for depth imaging. We can then either run a tomographic update (a single update is normally sufficient) or utilise the AutoImager technique in the depth domain to finalise the depth model. Both methods result in significant time and cost savings for the client and a more accurate image in depth. This key technology combination makes the endless iterations of tomography and horizon picking offered by other contractors redundant.
The final migration can then be performed by whichever migration algorithm suits the data best. SIP provides RTM and Kirchoff algorithms (isotropic/anisotropic).
